What this means in practice is that you can now swap your stablecoin balance for Tether Gold (XAUt0) tokens. Each XAUt0 token is backed 1:1 by Tether Gold on Ethereum and physically redeemable with gold stored in secure Swiss vaults.
The new Mini App is made available to you thanks to our collaboration with Squid. From today on, you’re getting access to a new Mini App on the Discover Page which allows you to buy digital gold. Now, you can swap your USDT balance for Tether Gold (XAUt0) tokens—and hold them securely on the blockchain, with access to them via MiniPay.
This exciting new update comes as a natural response to your feedback - in our survey[1] over 93% of you expressed interest in owning digital or physical gold, and that over 60% of you would definitely try this feature!

How the XAUt0 Integration Works
Tether Gold (XAUt0) is a digital token where each token represents ownership of one fine troy ounce of physical gold, held in a secure vault in Switzerland.
Users can swap USDT for XAUt0, and vice-versa, directly within the Mini App.In it you can acquire fractions of an XAUt0 token, meaning they are not required to purchase a full ounce of gold.This integration is part of our ongoing effort to implement features based on community feedback and industry developments. You can now find this new swap functionality in your MiniPay wallet.

How can I buy/sell gold?
Open your MiniPay app, go to the tab “Apps” and open the Buy Gold Mini App to get started.
Is my gold real and verifiable?
Yes, your XAUt0 offers you direct exposure to physical gold. When you own 1 XAUt0 token, you own 1 physical ounce Troy gold stored in secure Swiss vaults.
Where is the gold stored?
Each XAUt0 token is backed 1:1 by Tether Gold on Ethereum and physically redeemable with gold stored in secure Swiss vaults.
Does MiniPay hold my gold?
No. MiniPay is a self-custodial wallet, which means your assets are always under your control. Your MiniPay wallet is where you hold your XAUt0 tokens. You can always check balance in the Tether Gold Mini App
What happens if I no longer have my MiniPay account, will I still be able to access my gold?
You can always access the assets in your wallet using your recovery secret phrase.
Is digital gold a safe investment?
Squid can't advise on whether Gold is a good investment. We encourage users to do their own research.
